General Public FAQ’s

What do tickets cost and where do I purchase them?

It is FREE for children under 12 years old and $10 for Adults. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance gate on the day. Gates open at 10.00 a.m.

What time does the show run from?

The show is on Sunday 13 January 2019 and starts at 10am, finishing at 4pm.

Where do I park? Is there disability parking?

There is plenty of parking at the Tauranga Racecourse off Cameron Road, Greerton. Please follow the marked signs and listen to the parking marshals.

If you require disability parking, please enter via normal entrance and follow the signs. If you get lost please ask a parking marshal for assistance.

Can I bring a dog?

Dogs are permitted, however, they must must be on a lead at all times and obedient and under control around large crowds and live stock. Please remember there is little shade available and the weather conditions may too hot at this time of year for dogs to be comfortable.

Can I bring in my own food and drink?

We will have many food and drink vendors present on the day. You may bring in your own food and non-alcoholic beverages if desired.

Is there ample shade?

There will be some shade provided beneath marquees.  However, please be prepared for hot weather at this time of year, with suitable clothing, hats and sunscreen.

Will the event be rained off?

The event will still go ahead, rain or shine, a little bit of rain won’t stop the festivities and fun activities.

Will there be refreshments on site? What food facilities are there?

Yes a comprehensive range of drinks will be available as well as the Hydrohub – A tanker filled with free drinkable water. There will also be all the traditional fairground food available.

What sort of animals will be present?
  • Horses and ponies competing in showing and jumping events
  • Western horses competing in the ‘Cowboy Challenge’
  • Harness horses and ponies
  • Ponies for pony rides
  • Dairy, Beef and Dexter cattle
  • Alpacas
  • Sheep dogs
  • A ‘petting’ zoo which may include goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs etc.
Will alcohol be available?

No licensed premises will be on the show grounds – We aim for a safe, fun, family atmosphere.

Will young children be catered for?

Yes, a safe Kidzone is planned with plenty of activities.

Are there toilet facilities onsite?

Yes there are plenty of toilets including disabled facilities in the show grounds.

Is there an ATM?

There will be an ATM facility at the entrance gate.

What rides and events are free?

Most onsite events will be free however a few of the children’s rides will be at own cost.

Will there be Pony rides?

Yes, ‘Ponies Plus’ will be providing pony rides on the day.

Where is the office?

The office will be operating from the centre of the grounds near the main building. Secretary’s office will be sign-posted.  Other officials will be contacted by mobile phone.

Where is the first aid?

Medical services will be onsite close to the office in the middle of the show grounds.

Is there a programme and map available?

Activities will be announced throughout the day and a map is available on our website to download.

What time do I set up and pack down?

Trade stalls may set up after 2.00 p.m. on Saturday 12th January.  We prefer it if you can do this.  Security will be on site.  Absoultely no crossing of the track prior to 7.30 on Sunday 13 January 2019 when you may enter for further set-up. The gates open to the public at 10am so please ensure you are fully set-up prior to this. The show is usually finished by approx. 4.00 p.m. when you may pack down.

Can I set up on Saturday?

Yes you are welcome to set up site on Saturday and security will be onsite overnight.

What time will the gates be open for set up?

From 2.00p.m. on Saturday and between 7.30 and 8.30 a.m. Sunday.  Absolutely no crossing of the race track prior to 7.30 a.m.

How much is it to hire a site?

It depends on the size. Please email the secretary to receive the necessary documentation details by return email.  No site will be confirmed until paid for.

Competitors FAQ’s

Can horse competitors stay overnight at the venue?

Yes you can stay at the venue the night before the event.  There are adequate yards and toilet facilities on site.  You must book a yard if required during the day or overnight. ($5.00 – see entry form).  If bringing a Stallion or colt over 1 year you must reserve a stallion yard $20.00, and the stallion must be yarded at all times when not under the control of the handler and helper.  (No tying to trucks or floats).

When do equestrian events commence?

Sunday, 9.00 a.m. sharp.  The Cowboy Challenge will have practice runs on Saturday afternoon from 2.00 p.m. ($15.00).  Absolutely no crossing of the track before 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, doing so will result in disqualification.  Normal track crossing times apply on Saturday.

When does shearing commence?

Shearing classes start 10.30am on Sunday.

When do Cattle classes commence?

Cattle classes start at 10am on Sunday.

How do I enter for next year?

Leave your details at the office & you will be put on our database to send info to before the next event.

How much does it cost to enter sections in Home Industries?

50c per entry for adults and 20c per entry for children.
